Sofie Dreef is an LL.M student at the Vrije Universiteit studying Law and Politics of International Security. Prior to her Masters she obtained her Bachelor of Arts from University College Maastricht. As part of her Bachelors, she did an exchange program at the George Washington University.
In her studies Sofie focuses on both international relations and international law. She hopes to use this knowledge to help publish a diverse and high-quality journal that is interesting for peoples in all different fields of study. Moreover, Amsterdam Law Forum provides a podium for excellent students. One of Sofie’s goals is therefore to get many students enthusiastic for reading and writing for ALF.
Alba León Hernández is currently an LL.M student, studying Law and Politics of International Security. Prior to her Masters she obtained her Bachelor Degree from El Colegio de México in Mexico City, with a thesis on the conflict in Sri Lanka. During her Bachelor she also spent a semester in Amsterdam, at the Universiteit van Amsterdam. Later she worked as a research assistant, also at El Colegio de México. Besides her studies, she is an active volunteer collaborator with several organisations ranging from museums to NGO's devoted to peace.
Alba is interested in many topics, among which peacekeeping and peacemaking, and through her collaboration with the Amsterdam Law Forum she hopes to learn about different topics, thus broadening her understanding of conflict and its underlying causes. She also hopes that the Forum can help build bridges between academia and non academics.
